HISTORY / THE FOUNDERS
Bhagirathi Educational Society is a registered charitable educational society founded under the aegis of Bhagirathi Devi Charitable Trust which was established in 1959. The FOUNDERS, Smt.Bhagirathi Devi and her sons, established a Trust to promote and provide quality education to girls specially from the weaker and the under privileged segments of society.
The Late Smt Bhagirathi Devi and her sons belonged to the illustrious industrialist family of Panna Lal Girdhar Lal Targittiwale having their principal business activities in Delhi. The vision of the deeply religious lady was to uplift the weaker society girls by providing quality education to them. This vision was laced with passion and devotion, and her sons contributed through an admirable sacrifice of their time and money to establish in 1959 the Bhagirathi Devi Charitable Trust.
Towards this goal, Smt Bhagirathi Devi donated her house where with 60 students and 3 teachers the vision took shape in form of Bhagirathi Devi Arya Girls Sr Seconadary School. The single storied structure is now a three storied building with over 400 girl students and a staff strength around 35. In 1986 a primary school, Bhagirathi Devi Girdhar Lal Primary Public School, was established.
The founder Principal, Mrs Vimla Kapil with her extraordinary zeal and admirable devotion set an exemplary school management system and led to its remarkable growth.
Late Kishan Lal Chandiwale whose financial support and guidance gave immense growth to the fledgling institute.
Late Krishan Kumar Gupta who put put his personal work and health aside to attend many problems faced at every stage by the school.
Mr.Satish Chand Khandelwal has been a constant pillar of strength with his ability and keen knowledge to steer the schools during their formative years and has guided the institute in the right path.
Late Principal Roop Lal whose academic guidance in the establishment of the school set high standards from the beginning and no words can describe his immense contribution.
MISSION AND VISSION
To provide education and assistance to the girl child and continue to impart quality education to the coming generations.
To carry forward the legacy of the Founders and to accomplish the mission through regular activities preferably in synergy in following areas:

- Projects: Related to improvement of School infrastructure, hardware and software.

The Golden Anniversary of BDAG Senior School was celebrated in 2009 with great fan-fare. Honourable Mr.Kapil Sibal, Union HRD Minister and His Holiness Swami Chidanand Saraswati of Parmarth Niketan graced the celebrations as Chief Guests.
The junior school, BDGL Primary Public School completed 25 years and celebrated the Silver Jubilee in 2011 with a gala cultural program presented by the students of the School.
BDAG Senior School celebrated “Bal Mela” on November 17th. The school was beautifully decroated and a number of games’stalls were put up. Also, there were delicious food stalls. For cultural show the students added a dance and a fashion show to the celebrations. The Manager of the school Mr. Satender Jain visited each stall and was pleased to see the preparation. He inspired students for better performance in academics and blessed the students for their hard work. Mr. Satish Chandra Khandelwal, Sh. Naval Kishore and other members of the managing committee appreciated the efforts of the students.
Events to come:
- Project Exhibition will be put up by BDGL Primary Public School on the 20th December in the School premises.
- Christmas will be celebrated on the 24th December in BDAG Senior Secondary School premises.
- The Schools will have their winter vacations from 30th December until 13th January 2013.
The Society and its affiliate schools are managed by an Executive Committee.

Bhagirathi Devi Arya Girls’ Senior Secondary School
Bhagirathi Devi Arya Girls’ Senior Secondary School was established in 1959 with 3 teachers and 60 students as a Middle School at Gali Arya Samaj, Bazar Sita Ram, Delhi. Due to its consistent good results and support of eminent educationists it was made a Higher Scondary School and in 1977 came under the CBSE 10+2 scheme as a Senior Secondary School. Today, it is recognized and aided by Directorate of Education, Delhi Administration. The single floor house is now a 3-storied building with a staff of 35 imparting education to over 400 girls and guiding them towards self-independence. It was a proud moment when in 2009 the School celebrated 50 years of its founding and presented a cultural panorama with the Hon’ble Union Minister of Education and His Holiness Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati Ji as the chief guests and other eminent personalities. Many ex-students of the school are in prominent services.
Bhagirathi Devi Girdhar Lal Primary Public School
Bhagirathi Devi Girdhar Lal Primary Public School was established by the Trust in 1986 with classes from KG until Class V. Later Nursery was also added. The School in a very short period established itself as institute of repute by creating strong foundations for its students as they start their first steps in the journey of education. The splendid academic growth is coupled with social, cultural and communal harmony amongst the students. The school imparts training in physical activities, yoga, computers, arts & crafts. The whole curriculum is in synergie with the primary nature of the school to prepare its students worthy to go onwards with confidence and esteem. This school gained recognition in 1992 and celebrated its Silver Jubillee in 2011.

The Society is a registered Society under the Societies Act, 1960. Donations to the Society are exempt u/s 80(G) of the Income Tax Act.
An annual prize money of Rs.3000/- for outstanding students of the senior school is given by Mr.R.K.Gupta, grandson of Late Bhagirathi Devi, in memory of his father Late Devi Charan Gupta.
An annual prize money of Rs.5000/= for outstanding students of the primary school is given by Mrs.Usha Gupta, granddaughter of Late Bhagirathi Devi, in memory of her mother Late Kailash Gupta.
